Little chat with Telegram

posted Nov 10, 2016, 10:54 AM by Marco Aurelio Zoqui   [ updated Nov 10, 2016, 10:57 AM ]

For patients with moviment difficulties, the use of instant messaging applications can be very challenging and often frustrating.

It is interesting to note, however, that remote communication is important for patients who for some reason need to be alone for a few moments. Alert about a momentary condition like pain, hunger, physiological needs and mood may require urgent action.

How to send the message in a more objective, simple and fast way?

It is a very complex challenge, difficult to solve because it depends on the type of deficiency and the degree of impairment of the functional members and cognitive capabilities.

For some patients however, the use of instant messaging applications is feasible as long as they are tailored to require little user interaction.

Currently WhatsApp is far the most popular IM application. But development of systems that could interact with it are not encouraged since there is no public API (Application Program Interface).

Telegram, is also a popular messaging system that incorporates WhatsApp's key features and provides an open and well documented API.

Said that, we redesigned the player module of Picto4me to transmit and receive messages via Telegram. Integration was only possible thanks to the amazing Webogram project, an excellent web client for Telegram developed by Igor Zhukov.

picto4me Chat

To start using picto4me chat, you first need to create an account with Telegram and you will need to use a smartphone because activation of the account will be done through a code sent to the cell phone.

Configure the board you want to use on the communicator like this:
  • open picto4me editor
  • create a project with the phrases and symbols you want to use on the communicator
  • access file> properties
  • check one or all Telegram Chat options.
  • save your project
After saving the project you will see the chat icon in the upper right corner of the editor. Just click there and select a contact to start interacting on the telegram.

Sharing boards

Easy sharing was one of the most wanted feature. Teachers and therapist were doing that by browsing the projects on Google Drive.

Since version 3.2, the easy sharing button is available.

Keep in mind, that button will only be visible after you have named your project ;-)

Happy sharing!

Quickly search, add and get

posted Aug 25, 2015, 11:57 AM by Marco Aurelio Zoqui   [ updated Aug 7, 2016, 11:05 AM ]

It really easy to upload your image files into your private library.

The search box now displays a big container where your files can be dragged to. They will be automatically uploaded to your private library.
Some rules to be followed when uploading an image:
- File size can´t be bigger than 500kb
- File must be a jpg or png format

Importing straight from the web.
You may prefer to paste the image URL directly in the search bar. However, there will be images that would not rendered by the editor and a question mark will be displayed instead. To remove it, just click on the trashcan icon, as usual.

Integrated WEBCAM
The webcam was integrated to the search box, so you can get all images from a single place.
We will be soon upgrading the main picture library with plenty of new images and features.

We also upgrade to the latest Google Storage APIs - so you should get a faster upload and download operations

Hope that new features are useful for you.
